Swedish-born EMMA LUNDGREN presents a new direction for colour and material innovation, and explores the implications for its use in a wider design and cultural context. She started her own personal label & company in 2009, while also leading the way globally in the advanced colour & material design group within Ford Motor Company.

Emma has achieved this by understanding the complex interrelationships of 21st century production techniques, and combining them with artisanal traditions and highly individual colour combinations. Her unique aesthetic, and her vision of  colour and material constructions has helped her to win numerous awards at this early stage of her career, such as the Michael Treschow scholarship, for which she is currently a jury member. Emma’s characteristic signature; expressive futuristic folk inspired aesthetic has its inspirational roots from her native Scandinavia. Her work has been widely exhibited, and has garnered notable press in various publications internationally.

Emma studied Textile Design at Central St Martins, and then went on to work on projects for H&M, John Galliano, McLaren and Nokia. In doing so, she gained expertise in cutting-edge colour & material applications. She then completed an MA program in Mixed Media Design at The Royal College of Art. Following receipt of her MA degree Emma showed her work at Stockholm Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week and London Design Week, in 2011.

With such a diverse design background designing for fashion, textiles, consumer electronics and in the mobility fields Emma has a significant understanding of forward thinking materials and surface applications across numerous disciplines. This has helped her to develop a facility for working on collaborative projects within the industry with an open-minded perspective, whilst retaining the initiative that comes from pursuing personal work. The breadth of Emma’s professional experience and her specific expertise enable her to respond to future trends and to continue to produce innovative purposeful design solutions for the present and the future.

Emma is a creative leader in her field.
